// WHAT IT MEANS
Your weekly compute pool is empty. Since June 2026 xAI meters every product — Chat, Imagine, Voice, Build and the API — from one weekly pool, and publishes no per-tier numbers; Settings → Usage shows only a percentage and the breakdown by product. The "upgrade" part of the message is a nudge to a bigger pool, not an explanation.
If the message mentions peak hours, that is a separate temporary throttle on the free tier that eases off-peak, not your weekly pool.
// WHEN IT RESETS
At your account's fixed weekly reset time, shown under Settings → Usage. xAI publishes no universal time and it differs per account.
xAI has issued one-time reset vouchers — a "Reset available" badge next to Usage that clears the pool once. They do not stack, there is one per account, and they expire. Grok Bot is metered on its own pool and gets its own resets, announced from @bot. The most recent xAI reset is below.
// WHAT TO DO NOW
- 01 Open Settings → Usage: check the reset time and whether a "Reset available" voucher is waiting.
- 02 Look at the per-product breakdown. Video generation and long Grok Build runs cost far more than chat — if one product ate the pool, that is where to cut next week.
- 03 Extra Usage Credits let you continue at pay-as-you-go rates; the next tier gives a bigger weekly pool.
- 04 If you use Grok Bot through Cursor or a linked SuperGrok plan, its limit is separate — an empty Grok pool does not stop Grok Bot.
// DOES IT AFFECT MY WEEKLY ALLOWANCE?
There is only the weekly pool on paid Grok plans — no 5-hour window. So yes, this message means your weekly allowance for this tier is gone until the reset time or until you redeem a voucher.
// ALSO APPEARS AS
- “Rate limit reached during peak hours”
- “Upgrade to SuperGrok Heavy to unlock more”
- “You've used up your weekly usage”
